Download Fairness Coalition Releases New Video on Digital Goods and Services Tax Fairness Act

WASHINGTON – Today the Download Fairness Coalition released a new video highlighting the current problems surrounding the taxation of digital goods and services. The video explains how with just a single click consumers could pay “two or three or more sets of taxes.”

“The new video highlights a nightmare tax scenario that consumers face every day on their digital purchases,” said Sam Whitehorn, executive director of the Download Fairness Coalition. “By passing the Digital Goods and Services Tax Fairness Act we can ensure clear rules of the road for the taxation of these innovative products.”

The Digital Goods and Services Tax Fairness Act (S.1364) was introduced last week by Senators Wyden (D-Ore.) and Thune (R-S.D.). It is similar to bipartisan legislation the pair introduced in 2011.
